Free Training in Forensic Computational Photography Techniques
There are some rather amazing photographic techniques that fall under the category of Computational Photography. These include Photogrammetry, Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI), and Algorithmic Rendering. Each of these helps us to get more information and/or detail from three-dimensional objects – from measurements to more detail.
Cultural Heritage Imaging in San Francisco has been at the forefront in using these technologies (and developing them) for use in several areas, including art preservation and analysis, and more recently, forensics. I co-presented a workshop in RTI with them last year, and it was very well received by crime scene investigators, forensic photographers, questioned document analysts, etc. RTI has been used successfully in footwear imaging as well.
Cultural Heritage Imaging is offering a free half day workshop called “Introduction to Computational Photography Techniques for Forensics: Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI), Algorithmic Rendering (AR) & Photogrammetry”
Date: September 17, 2013, 9:30 am – 12:30pm
Location: CHI studio in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood
This is an adapted version of our half day introductory workshop, designed for forensics professionals. They are waiving their normal $99 workshop fee for this special event. Space is limited and registration is required. All the info you need, including the registration form are available here.
Additional examples of RTi in forensics can be found here.
